| AUGUST 9, 2017 TECHNICAL PROGRAM Thermal Integrity Profiling of Deep Foundations
Tracy Brettmann is the Vice President of Engineering for A.H. Beck Foundation Company working out of its Houston, Texas office. Mr. Brettmann is responsible for overseeing all engineering operations for Beck's specialty deep foundation, energy pile, soil improvement and earth retention projects. He received his BSCE degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Academy of Geo-Professionals, the Geo-Institute of ASCE, the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, the Deep Foundations Institute and ADSC – The International Association of Foundation Drilling. Mr. Brettmann is a past president of the Deep Foundations Institute and is a former chair of its Augered Cast-in-Place Pile committee. He currently serves on the Board of the DFI Educational Trust. PRESENTATION SUMMARY The Thermal Integrity Profiler (TIP) uses the heat generated by curing cement to assess the diameter and quality of cast-in-place foundations such as augered-cast-in-place (ACIP) piles and drilled shafts. This presentation described the TIP equipment, analysis and provides three case history examples of its use.
