TECHNICAL PROGRAM
Geotechnical Considerations for Soil Stability, Ditches, Embankment and Detention Ponds
Speaker: David Eastwood, P.E., C.A.P.M,, founder and Principal Engineer with Geotechnical Engineering and Testing, and Co-founder of the Foundation Performance Association. Tel. 713-699-4000
PRESENTATION SUMMARY
Mr. David A. Eastwood, P.E., C.A.P.M., discussed "Geotechnical Considerations for Soil Stability, Ditches, Embankment and Detention Ponds". Cities around Houston are involved in design and construction of many types of facilities. These facilities consist of channels, detention ponds, embankments, etc. The purpose of this seminar was to provide an overview of geotechnical issues on these projects.
Mr. Eastwood discussed slope failures, erosion protection, slope stabilization, embankments, detention ponds, ditches, retaining walls, etc. He also discussed the City of Houston Chapter 11 of the Design Manual for Geotechnical Services. HIs presentation covered the Harris County Flood Control Geotechnical Guidelines for design of these facilities, as well as potential design and construction considerations for channels and detention ponds associated with the Houston soils.
